This playshed was built in 1906 at the Petrie State School. It is typical of the shelters built in most schools of the period.
It was Government policy in those days to require that portion of the funds required to construct the shed had to be raised by the School Committee.
Population growth demanded that the school be upgraded and expanded and site planning required demolition of the shelter.
Arrangements were made to acquire the historic Playshed for the Park in 1984.
It was dismantled and re-erected on location
to become an integral part of the school precinct.
