Coe's Farmhouse

The farmhouse was built in 1876 near today's South Pine Road, Brendale.

It was built by Samuel Coe (1849 - 1930), a dairy farmer whose father Thomas settled the area.

It is believed that the timber used in the construction of this building came from local trees near the South Pine river.

In 1876 Samuel married and the farmhouse was a wedding preent for his bride.

The farmhouse is known as Stanton's farm locally because one of Samuel's granddaughters married into the Stanton family, who continued to dairy farm until 1988.

The cottage was lived in until 1990. It then became a commercial building for a short time.

On 18th November 2005 the cottage was moved to YMCA Old Petrie Town to be preserved for future generations.
